So my sister used a power supply that was NOT intended for my laptop...Since then, it does not have any power whatsoever. It does, however, work fine on battery power. (my friend has same computer and we use her battery and switch off once mine is charged.) I know it's not the AC adapter because hers doesn't work on mine either. If I replace the AC jack, and that doesn't fix it, what would I do next? Trying to get this fixed for my dad's bday!! Thank you in advance!

Solution
The mains power/charging circuits inside the laptop have most likely been damaged by over-voltage so fitting a new charging jack is unlikely to fix the problem. It's a job for a laptop repair shop but get an estimate first as you may decide it's too expensive to have it fixed.
