My Vaio all-in-one powers on and I can hear the Windows sound, but the screen is on but it is grey. What is wrong?

Hi,

It seems like a problem with either the GPU driver or the screen itself. Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to do a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try it after.
- If the same problem will persist, do connect an external monitor and see if the same problem will persist on it. If the display is still gray on the external monitor that means the problem lies in the GPU but if it display normal on it that means it's the built in display that is faulty.
- Try to open the laptop and check the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard and if the same problem will persist last option would be to replace the screen.
- Do also try doing a clean install of the graphics card driver that may also do the trick. Please use the link below for the complete guide and tools.
