Hi all, this is my first thread here and I'd like to thank you all in advance for your time and support.

Since a couple of days, when I plug my speakers into the headphones out of my Acer laptop, a loud hum noise comes out and cover all the audio signal.
This problem stops when I unplug any other powered source from the laptop (battery charger, projector). If I plug my headphones, even with all the other devices plugged in and running there is no hum noise and the speakers do not do any noise if plugged to any other source (other computer, phone, iPod...).
What kind of problem may I be experiencing?
Thanks a lot for your time again.

All the best.

Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try it again.
- If it will still not work, uninstall/reinstall the Sound card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Sound driver.
- Once uninstalled, download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer site.
- Reboot the laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- If the same problem will persist do also check for any BIOS update.
- And lastly, do reinstall Windows if all these will not work.
