Hi. I've changed my old hdd into a ssd today in my lenovo y580 laptop. During disasemlby I've decided that I will clean my laptop. I've taken apart everything including trashing old thermo paste and replacing it with fresh one. Then when I start my laptop it goes to Lenovo logo(1-2second) and shuts down(with either ssd or old hdd plugged in). However if i start it without any hdd it goes from Lenovo logo to "checking devices" for about 2seconds and then turns off. I checked and memory seems ok(got 2 sticks) and checked both slots. Fan is spinning normally. Than I also trashed old thermal pads near cpu and gpu and put new paste there. Still same thing. Kinda desperate to solve it because I need this laptop for my studies. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Based from the symptoms you're experiencing that can be a result of overheating. I would suggest to reopen the laptop and check all the physical connections and specially the heat sink on the CPU if it's properly seated. Remove the heat sink again from the CPU and wipe off the old thermal paste and make sure that the thermal pads is not too thick that the heat sink don't touch the CPU. If all these will not work do also try a different AC adapter that has the same voltage and see if the same problem will persist. Remove the battery off the laptop then boot it up with just the AC adapter connected.

I've done these things. I'm sure that cpu i properly seated and it is definitely touching the heatsink. Also tried different RAM and AC adapter (my friend has the same laptop). Also checked my adapter and my RAM in his laptop and everything is fine. Any other ideas?
