IBM Thinkpad R52

Hello,
I have an IBM Thinkpad R52/ Type 1847-38U S/N LV-A7357 05/06. I attempted to turn the computer on and it gives the message: Warning: Your internal hard disk drive may not function correctly on this system. Ensure that your HDD is supported on this system and that the latest HDD firmware is installed. I am then allowed to press Esc. to continue and arrive at the log-in screen but cannot log-in. I'm not sure what to do from here, but could use some help steering in the right direction.

Hi,

Was the HDD replaced in your laptop by any chance? Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
- First is to do a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again.
- If it will not work load the laptop into BIOS and press F9 to reset it to defaults.
- Next to try is to reload the operating system using the factory reset disc that came with your laptop
- If reloading the operating system will not work then the problem lies on the HDD itself.
- Last step you can do is to reseat the HDD, remove it off from the laptop then place it back in making sure it's plug in properly.
- If this will not work I would suggest replacing the HDD itself.
