I finally have signal from my DVD player to my tv... Now I have no sound?

I...think we'd need a lot more info here. Type of DVD player? Type of TV? What inputs are you using? What was causing it to not work before?
I have a Sony DVD player and a element tv. Last night I had trouble with tv having no signal with the DVD player, but this morning I finally figured it out which components to go where. Now my problem is that I put a disc in the DVD player, but I am getting no sound from it? Also, when the DVD player asked for set up could I've selected the wrong thing? I really don't know what I did wrong?
