Is this laptop any good for medium gaming and schoolwork?

Solution
I don't recommend getting laptops for gaming as they are overpriced . I can build a PC just 20 more dollars which beats this PC. Your CPU is really bad and can only run old games. This build (http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/vVvpZL) offers you a better CPU. 16GB of RAM is only necessary for builds over $2000. However, if you have to get a laptop for schoolwork because you'll be doing lots of schoolwork, get a super cheap laptop, then get this PC.

It does run any actual game but not that well. I noticed it's got a DDR3 GTX 850M

It depends on the price If you're about to buy check some laptops with a GTX 950M or 960M those are newer graphics cards so they should be less expensive in these days.

Now if you want something a little bit harder you get one with a 2GB GTX 965M for $900

If you go for this one you're able to play games really nice at 1080p however i don't know if it might look like too much money for you
buying a desktop gaming computer for home and buy a normal laptop for you to move around seems to be fine but it's not like you'll save so much money gaming laptops have become very cheap.
