I just turned on a laptop I haven't used for a while (ASUS from ~2011) and the colors, in particular greys, on the screen are appearing yellow. Here are a few photos that I took:
Here is what Paint looks like--you can really see how prevalent it is at the bottom of the screen (note that it's not always at the same position on the screen, so I don't think it's a hardware issue related to specific areas of my monitor): http/i.imgur.com/8LH4AJT.jpg
Here's showing the buttons at the top of the window: http/i.imgur.com/yJpFCvO.jpg
Here's the start menu, you can see it around the search bar, over across Devices and Printers, over Pictures and Music, as well as the discoloration in the Magnifier button I'm hovering over: http/i.imgur.com/zwYfR0I.jpg
What can I do to fix this? It's very annoying. I performed a factory reset of my computer hoping that would fix it and it's still happening.
I'll happily provide any additional required information.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I've discovered it has something to do with my screen gamma. By lowering the gamma and brightness of my screen, I've gotten the discoloration to go away, but now my screen is very dim at maximum brightness. I feel like this is just putting a band-aid on the problem though, and I'd still like to find the cause of the problem so I can go back to having a correctly-functioning laptop.
