Hi
A mishap occurred yesterday with my partner's XPS 13 yesterday.
A really great machine, cost approx. £1300 and I 'thought' I had paid for what we say over this side of the pond The dog's ...... as Madam does not treat her gear with shall we say the same respect as I do. She needs this for her educational practice and I thought I'd paid for premium support, spillage, damage etc. Well when I rang Dell I found that 3 Years NBD with Premium Phone Support did not cover that, ergo read the small print, then in a later call was informed that this option is being introduced as an after-purchase option in a month, nothing like rubbing salt into the wound!
So the socket/connection is damaged and will not charge. I will have to pay Dell to send a technician out no doubt at a premium, but it is a holiday over her but this machine has critical info data that we'd like to access.
Has anyone any suggestions on powering this up without breaking the seal, otherwise it will be next Wednesday before we get a visit.
Happy Easter
Ben
PS As there is a three year warranty, breaking any seal would be not the way to go, thanks for the advice & comments.
PPS this has really bugged me. Took a large magnifying glass (yes) to the socket and it’s missing a plastic grip which connects to the charger as I can see the four separate metal strands. So can I retro fit with invalidating the warranty, watch this space?
