Hello,

my old laptop (HP Pavilion 15-e057sc) fell off the table and the screen was broken as I picked it up.
The mechanical part of the lid was broken too, so I decided to connect it to my external monitor via VGA and HDMI, but there was no signal. The laptop is starting, but there's no signal to the display.
I can't try to close the lid while it's starting, because the lid is broken, so I opened my laptop and took the whole lid out, so it's practically only the bottom part with the keyboard now.

I tried to connect it again to the external monitor but it's still not sending a signal. I tried with HDMI, VGA, Pressing the Fn+F4 button *for changing displays* and i tried to use Windows key + P. Nothing works as expected.

Any ideas what I can do?

Hi,

The fact that you've already remove the broken display from the laptop itself the external display should have been working already. You did removed the ribbon cable that connects the built in display to the motherboard as well right? If this will still not work unfortunately the problem is the motherboard already, that the GPU to be exact specially if it's soldered to the motherboard and the only solution would be replacing the motherboard plus the broken display but that is almost equal to buying a new laptop that I would suggest rather that replacing those parts.
