Four days ago my daughters Asus f55c laptop screen started flickering magenta and the screen also has a copy of itself which it tries to overlay but does not align - need to get it fixed asap as she is in the middle of uni - any suggestions on how to fix at home? - thank you

It seems like a problem with the GPU already unfortunately. Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then boot it back up.
- If it will not work do connect your laptop onto an external display and see if the problem will happen on it.
- If you'll get the same problem onto the external display that confirms it that it's the GPU that is faulty.
- If it's normal on the external display you may need to check the ribbon cable that connects the display to the motherboard because chances are it may be damaged or it's the actual display that is faulty.
