hey

looking to buy a msi gaming laptop with gtx 970m (GS70Stealth - corei7 4720hq 16gbram-17.3 fhd)

if i play future AAA titles with medium graphics intensity and Full hd resolution how long will it last for me ? gtx 970m is on par with gtx 960 i think

and do u prefer a 17.3 inch screen for gaming or 15.6? thanks

It seems like games will be better with using resources thanks to direct x12, but there will still be an increase in horse power needed for fps games. The original Crysis uses way more resources than Crysis 3. So, it all comes back to "it depends on how much you want to game on less than 144hz on your laptop or 4xAA." You could keep the 970m going for 7 years, but you will probably need to turn the setting down for nice fps. I expect the common consumer to keep it for five to eight years depending on their uses. This is not a subject you can use science for. Everyone is different.

Do you mean how long will it be relevant? Then, it depends on how much you want to game on less than 144hz on your laptop or 4xAA. If you are asking about how long before a hard drive or motherboard dies, It depends on how long you let the components stay at 80 degrees Celsius. You can adjust the fan speed the app fanspeed to keep it cooler and live longer. You may get 10 years if you don't abuse the laptop.
