Lenovo g505 laptop

I rebooted my laptop by following the above advice about removing the battery, pressing the power button 10 times, etc. It worked! Thank you so much! Now what? Do I put my battery back in? What was wrong with it? How do I avoid that from happening again?

Put battery back in and see if all is well, may just have been a glitch in a shutdown or something
