Hi guys - so on my PC i Have the free versions of avast and malware bytes. Is this sufficient enough to protect my computer from any threats? Should I download any other forms of security software? And if so, can you please recommend some to me (if there are any that I should download, I would prefer them to be free and lightweight so they wont bog my computer down).

Thanks!

about as good as it gets as far as free goes. Other things you can do is ensure you don't use admin account as your default account so any virus is stuck in a limited rights environment(and thusly easier for AV to get rid of)
Newer windows versions though do a decent job of this automatically though by prompting for admin access for each thing beyond a certain level of access even on an admin account. If you disabled this, reenable it because it helps a lot for preventing virus's from doing anything important.
User a secure up to date browser, keep OS up to date, regularly scan since nonfree version tend to not automate anything, and don't browse random sites, user popup and ad blockers and noscript plugin if you can.
And keep a backup of data, just in case. There is no 100% catchall on viruses and malware, you just do your best to reach that 99%

The best antivirus is the user, uninstall java and other virus traps, don't go on dodgy website, don't download and run random programs.
On the web, don't update or install unknown programs. Be aware of scams on website, never give sensitive information.

Thank you for all the responses. I know technically nothing is necessarily "good enough". I know that a PC is always susceptible to viruses and such and that what the user does is extremely important as well. However, I assume that there is a certain level of protection that a PC should have from security software such as those I am currently using and I was wondering if my current security software set-up meets said level of protection.
