Hooking up Samsung Smart TV to Samsung Home Theatre - no sound?

I have just replaced my Samsung Smart TV of 3 years with the latest model. Previously, I had my TV connected via HDMI cable into my Samsung Home Theatre and could opt for sound via the Home Theatre speakers if I wished. I have exactly the same set up with the new TV and with Anynet enabled but now cannot get sound via Home Theatre. Any suggestions?

To even remotely able to answer your question, we need make/model of each equipment and a diagram of how you have them connected, otherwise we'll be making guesses.

My kit is all Samsung.

1)Smart TV is the new 9 series 55" curve SUHDC

2)Smart Home Theatre Unit - 5.1 CH BluRay - HT -F5500

3)Smart BluRay Recorder Combi - BD-E8500M.

I have the TV connected to each of the other two units directly with high quality HDMI leads.

This set up worked perfectly connected as above to my previous Samsung 40" Smart TV.

I have since added an optical connection between the Home Theatre and TV but this has not helped.

It has also been suggested that I make sure that ARC is enabled on my new TV. I can find no such option under the TV menu sound settings so cannot confirm at this point.

Hope this clarifies the set-up arrangements.

Guys.

I have solved the problem and hope the solution will help others.

The new TV has a number of HDMI socketrs but one of them is especially configured with ARC which needs to be used for this application.

I discovered I had been using this HDMI socket on my old TV but more by luck rather than judgement.

No need either for an optical cable.

Now working as I had expected.

Thanks for your input.
