I am running a virus in a vm!???!

I want to say that i am using vmware fusion 8 in os x el captain in pc....
all works well but then i have opened a youtube channel and i want to test viruses so the question is that can be able to run the viruses belonging to windows family in os x and also disabling all the shared options like network usb shared folders...so will my mac and the files be safe???

And a virus can escape the VM to infect the host machine.
