When I plug the charger into my laptop, the laptop charges only for a few seconds (like 2 seconds) and the power light, charge indicator starts to blink.
If I close the lid and charge it charges for like 30 seconds and then stops again and lights blink
The laptop works only on power cord and no battery but then shuts down after sometime
Its a Gateway Nv57h44u laptop
Thank you.

Hi there SirYohan!

This can be one of three things: faulty charger, faulty battery, or - the worst case (and also the least likely) - faulty motherboard. The easiest way to determine what it is is to replace one component and test.

Does your laptop still function if you remove the battery and run the computer off of the AC adapter?

Thanks for replying!
The charger is not faulty because it works on another laptop.
I think its not a battery problem too because when I remove the battery and run it on the AC adapter it will supply power for around 45 seconds and then stop and the laptop falls off.
Can this be fixed? Or is it a motherboard problem?
If it is, what are the causes for the faulty motherboard? Maybe I encountered one of them..?

Certainly could be a faulty circuit on the motherboard then. It might be repairable, but repairing a circuit board can be difficult and is pretty technical; I think you'd need to bring the system to a good technician for that. They may be able to rework it (a reflow or re-soldering specific joints might fix it). At worst, a replacement motherboard would be in order.
