My partner purchased an ASUS S550C 3 Years ago, it has being sitting in a cupboard, we recently moved and now have tried to use it but have come across the dreaded battery issue. It states in the VIVOBook panel no battery, and on the status bar it states plugged in charging, but it does not charge, and i have the orange flashing battery indicator.

I have followed the various tips hints of removing battery/uninstalling the driver etc but it does not work, i assume the only option is to purchase a genuine battery replacement/?

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again then see if it would charge or not.
- if these will not work do remove the battery again then try booting it up with just its AC adapter and see if it will boot up normally.
- If it does stay on that means that the battery is faulty already.

Here's a replacement battery for your laptop.
