Hi,
I recently bought an Acer laptop. Apparently it came with two gpus, Intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 and NVIDIA GeForce 940M. When I run my computer it is using the Intel card by default, so I was wondering if there was a way to change it to run the Nvidia card by default. I have changed the card used in one of my games(thankfully) but I don't know if I'll be able to do that for all of them.
Is there a solution for this that doesn't involve deleting the other card's drivers and such (I've seen this as a suggestion in a lot of places..but it really doesn't seem safe)
Thanks in advance!!

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Please do use this link below on how to set Nvidia as the default card.
- If this will not work do also a clean install of the graphics card.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Nvidia graphics driver.
- Check Programs and Features and uninstall anything related to Nvidia.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver from the manufacturers site.
- Here's the link: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
- Reboot your laptop once installed then try setting it again after the reboot.

Unless there is an option in the laptop's BIOS for this, you cannot give exclusive and total control to the NVidia GPU. You can set it to override the Intel HD Graphics for your programs (see Laptop_Nerd's post), but outside of that, the computer will likely be running on the Intel Graphics.
