7.1 with 4 Connections

7.1 pc speaker also use 4 connections. two channels per connection. some cheaper cards are set up to do more than one function with the jacks also so you might need to make sure things are set in the software correctly as well.

you might want to double check if the card itself outputs 5.1 or 7.1 as it says it upmixes stereo to 7.1. read the manual or detailed specs page to make sure its outputting true 7.1 if you need that and not just 5.1.

1) if you're talking about 7.1 computer speakers you already own, read the manual. its simple but if you need a diagram the manual will have it.

2) if you're talking about something other than pc speakers you need to specify what you're talking about as the answer could range anywhere from a simple connection, to needing an extra component to impossible with just a soundcard and requiring a different method to connect other than a soundcard. i can not see what you want to hook up as i am not psychic.

3) upmixing is "faking" surround sound from a lesser source and is not the same as true surround sound. it lists this for 2.0->7.1 but i wanted to make sure it wasnt 5.1->7.1 as well. as the card is listed as 7.1 on the creative site it is listed as 7.1 but i said to check the manual to verify since i'm not familiar with that particular model.

edit. for reference, the soundcard he is looking at lacks digital out.

you still are not telling us anything.

are these even pc speakers or are they home theater? self powered speakers? unpowered speakers? watt/ohm rating? where did the speakers come from? is the sub powered or passive?

if you are trying to hook up unpowered home theater speakers that were part of some set... no, its not going to work at all if you hook it up to a soundcard. there is not nearly enough power. for that you would need an amp or receiver of some sort.
