So... The link above will take you to the laptop I plan to save up for myself(Budget is 500$ for the laptop itself, then 150$ for add-ons). What I am looking for in a computer is: Moderate gaming, school, normal uses. I plan to run games normally such as games like CS:GO, and as for school and other uses I will just use the browser which I will need to be at an exceptionally fast speed.
What things I need to know about this laptop are:
What are the pros and cons?
Will it provide all my needs listed above?
Is it a sensible laptop to purchase?
Are there better laptops to buy with a budget of 500$?

I already looked at reviews and if I DO end up purchasing this laptop, I will also buy an extra 8 gbs of RAM, swap out the HD for a SSD, and also purchase a heatsink. Also I will do a clean install of windows 10.

Are there better options? How will it hold up for the three-four years I will need a laptop for? Any more problems I need to know about the model? Can it run a game like CS:GO fast and efficient at moderate settings?
Thank you

Pros:
+ Overall good value. Least expense laptop with a nVidia 940m.
+ The nVidia 940m is a decent mainstream GPU. Much better than integrated graphics, but weak compared to a "gaming GPU" like the GTX 960m.
+ 1080p screen allows you to see a lot of information on the screen at one time compared to a lower resolution screen like 1366x768.

Cons:
- It's an Acer laptop. People consider Acer laptops to be cheap quality laptops compared to more expensive laptops (given the price difference that should not be a surprise).
- No backlit keyboard... but this is a laptop with a dedicated 940m.

CS:GO is not that demanding even laptops with integrated graphics are capable of playing the game depending on settings. The 940m should allow you to...

-Pros and Cons
dunno, depends on personal preference
-cover your needs (eg. school, browser, homework, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office 365)
Yes
--Sensible
It seems that way. I doubt that you need an extra 8 gigs of RAM, double check that upgrading to a SSD will improve performance on that specific laptop, and last, I have never seen a aftermarket heatsink for a laptop before.
-For the game you mention
I'm thinking it will work: Required CPU for the game is Core2 Duo E6600 according to steam and the **Core2 Duo E6600 vs Core i5 5200U** on cpuboss.com shows the score for the Duo @ 5.5 and the i5 @ 8.5
That's telling me that it should work.

CS:GO is not that demanding even laptops with integrated graphics are capable of playing the game depending on settings. The 940m should allow you to play at 1080p resolution using medium quality graphics (if not better) and I would guess-imtate that you should get 40+ FPS. I don't play the game. Change graphic settings / resolution to get better results or results closer to what you like to have.

You cannot buy heatsinks for laptops they do not exist. Unless you mean a laptop cooler that the laptop would rest on top of. Or perhaps you mean those tiny little copper heatsinks that you stick onto the existing heatsink using adhesive thermal pads to slightly improve cooling.
