My father is retiring this week and will be slowly but surely (insert sad face lol) moving to florida and we want to skype with him and keep in touch so we convinced him to buy a laptop.
Budget = $300 max
Primary Use: Email, facebook, Web Browsing/youtube, simple solitaire games. *Video Chat(skype)
PC Understanding: He is not a very avid user, still ends up getting viruses/malware from not knowing what stuff to click ect, so my hope is to put avast free and malwarebytes(non demand) on it but he was saying he was just going to get it shipped there so it will most likely have macafee or something rediculous.
*Criteria*
Windows(honostly he loves his windows 7 professional getting him to use 8.1 -10 would be hard on him) I can supply the windows 7 pro disk as i get school discounts on Win OS's for $5
Webcam
Storage = dont need ssd, but medium-large capacity 500-750gb max
ram 4GB+
Cpu = prefer i3/x4+(doesnt matter intel/amd)
gpu = integrated is fine, as long as the drivers support potentially windows 8.1/10 future upgrades
networking:
1Gb ethernet/wifi capable
screen res: mid-range again hes 62, doesnt need crazy rez but it would be nice for something above avg.
* wireless mouse would be a good idea for him as usually the track pads he has trouble with.
