Had a laptop some seven years ago I used at work for games (Alienware brand) but fought overheating so bad I gave up. Hoping things have changed and I can get back into gaming on a laptop without dealing with this issue, is it even possible to play games on a laptop for any length (more then an hour at a time) without having to let it cool off?
1. What is your budget? $2500 if everything is right
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? I've been messing around on an Ipad air so 10" is what I've been use to. Don't want to go as big as 15" but could if everything was perfect.
3. What screen resolution do you want? Same as above, Ipad air has 2048x1536 so If I can stay close to that I'd be happy.
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? This is simply for work (sounds odd since it's for gaming, but I'm in security and tons of downtime).
5. How much battery life do you need? Not a huge concern as I usually have an outlet available.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? Yes games is the primary function. Games I play at home are Skyrim and Fallout Series of games to WoW and Guild Wars on occasion. I play Sims and Civ games also so I'm all over the board here. As for graphics settings, I like good graphics like anyone else, but I understand this isn't my desktop system.
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) YouTube and Netflix watching.
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? if I can get 500G SSD I'd be ecstatic but probably not reasonable. I do want the SSD even if it means less capacity.
9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. I've looked all over and I feel sites are selling specific brands over what's honestly best for the consumer so I'm more lost then when I started.
10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? At this price point for quite a while.
11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ? Not important.
12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. Not hugely important as long as it's a quality brand.
