Vaio laptop screen blank and powers itself off after about 1 minute

I have a Sony vaio laptop. Today I wanted to clean the insides of it so I opened it up and cleaned it. After I put it back and powered it on, it would power up but go off by itself in about a minute. The screen is also blank and I tried connecting an external screen (through hdmi, not VGA cable) but it does not work. Also, when I press caps lock or num lock on the keyboard, it does not detect it. And the hard disk does not spin up when it starts. I'm freaking out, can someone help me?

1. Double check ram is seated properly.
2. Try cmos reset, by removing battery and charger, press and hold power button for 30 seconds.

Checked both. Doesn't work. Here's what exactly happens when I power it on:

Green light (power indicator) and yellow light (HDD indicator) light up.
After two seconds, HDD indicator turns off. Screen is blank, no backlight.
Keyboard numlock/caps lock indicator does not light up when numlock/caps lock is pressed
After ~two minutes laptop powers down.

Everything was working fine before I took it apart. So there must be something which went wrong while I was on it. I tried re-doing the connections so many times. I've been doing that since morning but it just doesn't get past this.

Its possible static from your clothing or hands even short circuited something, if you sure connections are ok, double check heat sink placement, remove and re-seat it. Its also connected to the fan in someway you might want check that it is screwed properly there as well as the placement on the cpu.
