Bluetooth Audio Receiver

I have purchased an inexpensive bluetooth audio receiver which connects to my home audio system using a 3.5mm to 2 x RCA cable. This works fine when using my laptop.
Should I expect the signal into the amp to be as good as if I connected to the laptop and amp directly using the same cable or will the bluetooth signal be degraded?

Solution
I don't know much about receivers and amps, but yes, Bluetooth degrades your audio quality quite a bit, and It's easily noticeable at higher volumes. If you are looking to wirelessly play music I recommend the Chromecast Audio.

Hope this Helps!

Thanks BlueFirez - That's what I thought. The bluetooth is just a temporary convenience. I use a MK1 Chromecast for my video and a Chromecast Audio is next on the shopping list.

Happy to Help!

Just making sure you know, you can't stream all your audio from your laptop, it sorta sucks but you can only stream from supported applications (Google Play Music, Spotify, Deezer), and not all of them work with laptops (Chromecast Audio is more directed to the phone market). There may be some ways to stream everything if that's what you are looking for, but officially, there are only few applications for desktop.

Supported apps (choose "Show apps for speakers" on the right): http://www.google.ca/intl/en_ca/chromecast/apps/

I just want to warn you if you didn't know :D, If you have any questions on the Chromecast Audio (I myself own one btw), feel free to ask me!

Thanks for the heads-up on the CC Audio. It was my intention to play local music (I don't use on-line music) so this is probably not the best solution.
I do have an HDMI audio splitter that I attach to my Mk 1 Chromecast and that lets me cast audio from my tablet/laptop to my home audio system so I might just stick with that.

That would work great, but if you an audiophile and have a higher end system I'd preferably use the Chromecast Audio. Using the splitter is ok, but you won't be seeing any interface, also you are losing its main functionalities like YouTube.

Either way if you use the Chromecast or the Chromecast Audio you are going to have to upload your music to Google Play Music, and use the cast extension in Chrome, then only you can stream. To upload your music all you have to do is download Google's "Music Manager" (its a small application), choose the folder in which you music is in (you can choose multiple), and hit upload. You are able to upload 50,000 songs max, which is quite a bit.

Music Manager (the page has a link to the download): https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/1075570?hl=en-CA

I own the Chromecast v2 which is connected to my TV, and my TV is connected to my speakers. So if you are set up like that you can just output the audio through your speakers, but I'm guessing you don't have your audio system connected to you TV.

A2DP AptX codec doesn't degrade audio quality to a noticeable level, and it's got little delay, meaning no lip sync issues. Both devices in the chain need to support AptX, for it to work.

But I don't expect his Bluetooth receiver to support it since he said it was inexpensive.

OK guys, this is how I have things set up. (One of several setups in the house)
All my movies and music (FLAC) are kept on a server running Plex.
I have a Chromecast (Mk 1) connected to a digital audio extractor and then to my tv. (The tv is not turned on)
The digital audio extractor is connected to an external DAC using a TOSLINK cable and then to my amp.
Using a Plex app on my Android tablet I can cast any of the music files on the Plex server through the Chromecast to my sound system.
The music plays perfectly and I'm not aware that there is any degrading of the audio signal.

UPDATE:
Using the tablet with ES File Explorer installed (with it's Chromecast plugin) I can access any music file on the tablet or the entire home network and cast it to the Chromecast as above.
