Slowly over the past month to six weeks my laptop has progressively crashed to a black screen. Originally after logging into Windows the laptop the would crash after 25mins but now it's down to 30sec. Same crash happens booting into safe mode either before / after logging in.

Here's what I have tried:
Opened the laptop cleaned the out the dust.
Tried fresh ram in both ram slots.
Replaced hard drive with new SSD
Clean install of Windows 7.

Unfortunately now because of the 30 sec crash i’m unable to install any software like Speccy to supply complete specs for the machine.

Laptop specs:
Acer Aspire 5737z Laptop
500GB Samsung 850 EVO
2GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM
Graphics: Geforce 9400mG
Windows 7

What could be the cause of the crashes and how might I fix it?

Thanks very much in advance.

Nathan

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by running Windows Update and install all updates available.
- Next is to do a clean install of the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics driver.
- Do check Programs and Features as uninstall anything related to the graphics card of your laptop.
- Next is to download and install the latest graphics driver from the manufacturers site.
- Once installed reboot your laptop then observe if the same problem will persist.
- If these doesn't work do also a complete virus/malware cleanup. Please use the link below for the complete guide and tools.
- Once done and if these doesn't work you may need to reinstall Windows 7 itself.

From what you did already, chances are it's a bad motherboard, CPU or is just overheating. You cleaned out the dust (the fact that there was some there is not very good if that was the first time you cleaned it), you can also try to remove the heatsinks and re-install them with new thermal paste. That will get the temps down if that is the issue. Past that, since you already replaced RAM and the hard drive (hard drive would not be causing this in most cases), next step would be a motherboard replacement.

If the laptop crashes loading into safe mode, how would one uninstall old graphics drivers and install the latest graphics drivers?

BTW the laptop has fresh install of Windows 7. 30sec Crash is preventing Me from running Windows update.

Thank you very much for your suggestions,
Nathan
