Hey guys so this issue started about 3 days ago. I have a workstation laptop called the Dell precision m4600. It's a little old but It's pretty fast. With gaming I get about 130 fps on black ops 2 on high settings and 50 fps on bf4 on high settings. Lately I've been noticing that if I close out of a game my computer starts significantly slowing down. If I relaunch any game I get about 15 fps. Also any other programs such as Google Chrome are very slow. The weird thing is that when I restart my computer it's fine for about 2 hours and then its starts to slow down again. I just finished backing up my files and I'm going to clean reset. I was wondering if anyone knew what may be the cause of this problem.

Specs:

GPU: AMD Firepro M5950

CPU: Intel dual core 15-2520M 2.5Ghz

RAM: 16Gb

Solution
Sounds like the CPU is throttling for some reason. Heat, being locked in a low power state, something of the sort. Set your power management settings to high performance and try cleaning the CPU heat sink.

Bro! I had the same problem but with my toaster! I just licked it real hard and put it in the freezer for a few hours and it stopped lagging. Also I had the problem with my Xbox 720 so I just poured some bleach on it and it cleaned up the hard drive and now it works great! I can actually get free games now and I can play Minecraft on my toaster without any lag. ;D

Alright I just checked my fans and they were DIRTY. I just cleaned them and I just started up my computer. I'm going to wait a couple of hours and I will check back in with the status. Thanks for your response :)
