Hi all, I have a Sony Vaio Pro SVP13 ultrabook that's been giving me problem. Computer is able to power on with lights on the power button and the keyboard. There is no display on the internal display. I hooked it up to an external display and that works. The touchscreen and the camera works on the internal display based what I can see on the external display. I tried changing the display mode but that doesn't work. Graphic Properties only recognize the external display, same for Device Manager. Not sure what else I can do at this point. I welcome all suggestion. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Based from the symptoms you mentioned about your laptop it seems like that the built in display is faulty. Please do also try these troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- First is to shine flashlight on your laptop display and check if you'll see anything from it.
- If you'll see a display when you shine a flashlight on it that means that the backlight is the problem.
- The only solution would be to replace the backlight or replace the LCD display itself of your laptop.
- Do also try to reseat the ribbon cable that connects your display to the motherboard and check if it's seated properly.
- If these doesn't work proceed with replacing the LCD display itself.

Hi, thanks for the suggestions!

- There is no display when I shine a flashlight on it.
- The entire display is one piece and it will be difficult to swap the cables and parts inside.
- Reseating the cable from the display to the motherboard did not help.
- Bought a replacement part off eBay but it is still not working.

I think the only thing left is the motherboard. The internal display port might be faulty? What do you think?
