hello, i have some problem with my laptop, about some keys stop working, which is e,r,4,5.
i remember before that i installed a voice changer program(sorry i forgot the name) and then some icons of my files changed into something like a folder thing (can't seem to put a image link here)

and that is also the time my problem with my keypads started, at first it was just e and r but after i press them hard or for a long enough time, they start to work again, and that continues to work until just a few days ago. My keys are now hard to press, i checked for some solution and tried restarting my laptop and cooling it off, it sometimes work but still hard to press those keys, and now even 4 and 5 doesn't work anymore, by the way, i already uninstalled that program about the voice changer, fearing that it change some things on my laptop, unfortunately, the icons didn't revert back to normal and i have to change them back manually and i tried running my antivirus but didn't detect anything, i am using avast if that matters, and now even with restart i can't make them work, even in safe mode they don't work, i tried uninstalling and reinstall the keyboard from device manager but didn't work as well,(the keyboard in my device manager is called standard ps/2 keyboard, just thinking if it matters as i don't really know much about tech stuff) they do sometimes work but then will stop working again after some minutes, and then if i turn off laptop and let it rest for like a whole night, and turn it back on, the keys will work for an hour or so but then will stop working again, and i will need to press them hard again so i could make them work, and also that all of this non-working keys stop working all at the same time makes me think that it really is not just a problem with my keyboard, i already cleaned my laptop and check if the dust might be the problem but it still doesn't work, i hope you can help me, even now i'm just using on screen keyboard to type this all, and it's really hard, thanks in advance.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps for your keyboard that may help. You may have done some of the step, you can just skip them.
- First do uninstall/reinstall the USB driver from Device Manager.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the USB controller drivers.
- Reboot your PC once uninstalled and it should reinstall the driver automatically.
- After the reboot, do test it again and if the same problem will persist try to disable the built in keyboard from Device Manager then test it.
- If all these will not work I would also suggest running a complete factory reset.
- If reinstalling Windows will not work do connect an external USB keyboard and see if it works normally.
- If the external keyboard will work that means replacing the built in keyboard would be the only solution.

hello, thanks for the answer, first i tried uninstalling and reinstall the usb drivers, but still didn't work, and now i wanna try to disable the built in keyboard but i don't know how, in device manager, the disable button in the keyboard properties is grayed out so i can't disable it that way, can you teach me please? if possible i wanna avoid the factory reset as i have too much files downloaded in my laptop right now and both my local disk are almost full so i can't backup also, thanks again
