Went online and found this link:

Not sure if the link is a full match to your TV and remote.

However, just try a couple more searches targeted to your particular TV and remote.

Anyway, FYI, I cut and pasted the steps - not formatting well but readable.

If the Samsung Smart Control does not pair to the TV automatically, point it at the remote control sensor of the TV, Then, press and hold the both the Return/Exit button and Extra button at the same time for about 3 seconds.

When the bluetooth icon is displayed on your TV screen, release the two buttons on your smart control...
So the generic remote for your cable box works and is also programmed (via the appropriate Samsung code) to operate the Samsung.

But the original Samsung branded remote does not/no longer works.

That is how I am understanding your post.

Silly question but did you try new batteries? Batteries can test okay but still not have enough power to transmit effectively.

Do you have the manual for the Samsung Smart TV. The reconnect process for the remote could be in the TV manual. If not, go to Samsung's website and look for the remote manual.

I checked the batteries and they don't seem to be the problem.
-the manual doesn't explain how to do it
-all samsung remote manuals are for the all in one new gen remotes!!
-I have tried every menu option and read carefully the tv manual...

anyone who knows how to pair it again???

-Ralston18 thanks for the answer

When paired, the smart control remote picture will be displayed on your screen along with the battery level of your remote.
