Just installed about 20 updates to Windows 7 on my wife's laptop, and now the keyboard and touchpad don't work.

The laptop is an ASUS Eee 1005-PEB. Windows version is Home, I'm pretty sure. I've tried resetting defaults in BIOS, unplugging and re-plugging in the keyboard ribbon, and working with a USB mouse and keyboard. The USB mouse and keyboard can't seem to install their drivers properly. ASUS tech support was no help. I'm close to tearing out my (already-thinning) hair here. Any solutions for getting this working correctly would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

There's very few things you can do about that issue.
- If it's working in BIOS you may still be able to reset your laptop back to Factory settings.
- Do also try to load the laptop into Safe Mode and see if it would work or not.
- While the laptop is booting up, repeatedly press on F8 until it loads Advanced Boot Options and select Safe Mode.
- If Safe Mode will still load run System Restore, restore it back to an earlier date or time before the problem even existed.
- If all these will not work you last option would be to run a Factory Reset.
