So my logitech g430 broke down and im looking for replacement.Shall i go for logitech g430 again or should i get kingston hyperX Cloud II.I mostly play fps games so surround sound is important for me

Solution

The HyperX and the g430 are both pretty close when it comes to surround so I'd say he got a bad unit of something along those lines. You need to remember that gaming headset like the HyperX Cloud II and the G430 (or any other one really) use virtual surround sound, not actual surround sound. If you want real surround sound you are going to have to buy audiophile headphones like the ATH-A900x, which are around the same price as the HyperX Cloud II.

An affordable price? It's more than twice the price of the g430. At $100, the Cloud II is in the high end price range. For double the price you aren't getting double the quality, if it's even equal to the 430 at all. I'd take Logitech customer support over HyperX anyday too. Logitech will send you a replacement headset without needing to wait to send in your old one.

Well, the problem with g430 is its cable and cheap plastic material, i've had the logitech g430 before, no complains regarding sound and logitech support.

I got the original hyper X cloud, it's worth it's price tag.

The extra money on cloud 2 is for the usb sound card. For a good sound card you'll need to pay extra money anyways.

Else the original cloud is the right choice.

The USB sound card built into the cloud 2 isn't great and it's frankly a waste of money for them to include it at all. In addition, because they decided to include that sound card, this headset will never be able to use anything but the included poor quality sound card. You could probably get better onboard sound than what the sound card paired with this headset will give you. At least if you bought a sound card seperately all your other sound components could benefit too but instead you'll simply have to throw away the whole package when the Cloud II goes bad.

I've read a review about HyperX Cloud II that it has a terrible surround sound is it true? They said g430 is better than Clound II when it comes to surround sound?
