Hi, I have been having some trouble with my dell inspiron 1545 over heating. I just bought it off ebay a week ago. I have cleaned out the fan filter etc and have made sure there isnt any viruses so I am now attempting to update the bios as the version I have on my laptop is 2009 and there is a 2012 version. I have made a bootable dos flashdrive and followed each direction on the dell website to make this. when I boot from flashdrive It takes me to somewhere where it then says C:/ and at this point it I am supposed to type in the file name to access the bios updater. I have typed in a few things I thought it was and its telling me its a bad command line. Whats the correct name I should be typing in after C:/ any other help/ suggestions would be very helpful as I am not as computer smart as most and my laptop just keeps overheating and powering off

Hi,

When you cleaned out your laptop did you also apply new thermal paste on both the GPU and CPU? And about the BIOS update for your laptop, I checked the available BIOS update for it and what I saw was a version A14 and it was released last 2012.

Here's the link for that BIOS version:
http://downloads.dell.com/bios/1545_A14.EXE

And here's a complete guide on how to update BIOS with your laptop.

Hopefully this will help. :)
