Hi!

I am a college student. I just need a laptop for schoolwork. I'm do not need to run any sophisticated programs or play games or anything. I only need the laptop for browsing internet and using Microsoft office basically. The only catch is that I like to multitask a lot, so I may have 15 tabs open and several documents at the same time. I also want a laptop that can respond fast. I am too used to my gaming desktop so I've gotten spoiled to instant response times.

1. What is your budget? $600-700

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering? 14-15 inches

3. What screen resolution do you want? Doesn't really matter

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop? portable

5. How much battery life do you need? longer the better, but not a big deal

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)? No

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.) Just schoolwork (no sophisticated programs or anything)

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need? 500GB-1TB

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links. Amazon or Newegg preferred.

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop? 2-3 years

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc? Non required

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons. No preference

13. What country do you live in? USA

Thank you guys!

Basically anything with a SSD and high-end i5 / i7 CPU should be enough, and for those browser tabs 8GB of RAM or more is helpful. Also, Full HD screens are nice to have too.
ThinkPads are usually wonderful laptops for work due to the high-end construction and keyboard - this should meet your requirements http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-14-1-inch-Anti-Glary-Professional-Bluetooth/dp/B018UVZE6K/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1454092951&sr=1-1&keywords=thinkpad

That's just after a quick Amazon search and I'm not sure about US prices. If lack of storage is a problem you could always use an external HDD / fit one in the DVD drive bay, or simply find the equivalent model with a hybrid drive.

This might be better though - http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Flex-14-59423166-MultiTouch/dp/B00K67RPRS/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1454093252&sr=1-2&keywords=flex+2+14 I own the exact model and love it. Keyboard not the best and HDD quite slow but apart from that it's great. I've used it every day for the past 6 months and am loving it - the HDD speed isn't much of an issue really. Plus with the i7 it should be fast enough for a while, and it's also Full HD. Battery life is around 3 hours (for me) so not great but acceptable, this is with the WiFi on and screen at 75% brightness so you could easily get longer.

That's just the result of a quick google. I'd suggest the Flex 2, which definitely includes Windows 8.1 which upgrades to 10 fine.

I hate laptops, I think they are a waste of money. And I also have had more problems with Windows 10 than with Windows 7 and 8 combined. Never going back.
