how do connect laptop to surround sound system then to tv

I have a sony vaio laptop with lg blu ray surround sound and samsung tv. I used all hdmi cable for connections. I used one hdmi from laptop to hdmi in on surround sound then hdmi out on surround sound to tv hdmi in. Cannot get picture or audio from laptop to play on tv or surround sound. If i connect lapptop straight to tv it works great just. Cant get it through surround sound.

Please help

Sometimes the order you turn things on makes a difference with HDMI. Try leaving the PC to last (or make it first on if you have been doing it the other way. A different HDMI cable might help too.
You can also try changing the hookup. Connect the PC to the TV directly. Connect the LG to the TV HDMI ARC input and turn ARC on in the TV menu.
