I had my Asus Zenbook for about 1 year when the problem started. I finished working and put the laptop to sleep. When I came back a few hours later as I open the screen it switched on but as soon as the screen got to about 40% open it went back to sleep. I closed the screen but when it got back to the 40% position, it started up. It has full functionality when it is on at the limited screen open position so I did a full shut down and re-started but the problem still exists.

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that may help.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug its AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try it again.
- If the same problem will persist do try to uninstall/reinstall the graphics card driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the graphics driver.
- Check Programs and Features and uninstall anything related to your graphics card.
- Next is to download and install the latest graphics driver from the manufacturers site.
- After the install do reboot your PC then test it again.
- If these doesn't work you may need to open your laptop and check the connection of the ribbon cable that connects the LCD to the motherboard.
- Do also connect an external monitor and see if it would still shut down when you open the laptops display more than 40%.

I had the exact same problem: all of a sudden my Asus started having the same issue and I was able to fix it by uninstalling both Nvidia and the Intel Graphic Card (but I think the problem was Nvidia). Then I've reinstalled both and the problem disappeared. Thanks a lot!
