i have a Toshiba SATELLITE L50-C-22L Skull Candy Lap with Windows 10.

"Repairing disk errors. this might take over an hour to complete" this suddenly appeared whilst I was simply typing a document in MS Word. It's been several hours and the only change is that the hard drive light has gone from frozen red to frozen white. The battery light is still frozen red

Please can anybody help!

Sounds like your hard drive is going faulty. Once the repairs are done, I'd suggest running a S.M.A.R.T check on it and make sure there's nothing crazy going on (just google hard drive smart check). It will take a while to run depending on which method you use. It will tell you the errors and most likely that you have some fatal disk errors. I've been using my laptop with a faulty hard drive for 2 years. It just means there are some areas of your hard drive that have an error so when anything you use tries to write to it it will either lag or give an error. So if you have important documents or videos or whatever then I suggest you back them up and get a new hard drive, or back them up and continue using this hd knowing one day it 'may'...

But like I said i've been using mine for 2 years. Finally replaced it today actually because I wanted more space.
