Hello everyone!
So I just cleaned my laptop's keyboard with medical alcohol. It's not the first time when I do this, but now I got this:
Some keys don't work and some are not working like they should. 1,2,3,4,8, Delete and A,S,D,F do not work. Some keyboard combinations do not work even the keys do. However, 1+2=Tab.
So yeah, it doesn't work like it should anymore.
The laptop model is Asus K56CM. I will probably have to replace it and I think I can do it myself but I have no idea where I can buy a new one without getting scammed... I'm from Romania(Eastern Europe). Also, is it posible to get a backlite one? This laptop doesn't have a backlite keyboard. How about a linux keyboard? The one I have now is for Windows 8.
Thanks for help!
Have a great day everyone!

Hi,

Please do try these troubleshooting steps that I've suggested to others who had the same problem.

- Start by uninstalling/reinstalling the keyboard driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the keyboard driver then reboot your laptop. It will reinstall the driver automatically.
- Next is to make sure that Keyboard settings are all set to United States.
- If all these will not work try an external USB keyboard and see if the same problem will persist because if it will not happen you'll need to do a complete factory reset.
- How to perform System Recovery: http://www.asus.com/ph/support/FAQ/1006133/
- And if the factory reset will not work the only solution would be to replace the keyboard itself.
- Before you replace the keyboard itself do also make sure that the keyboard ribbon cable is seated properly in the motherboard.

Hello, thanks for your reply!
Yes I reinstalled the driver and that didn't help. I used another keyboard and that worked.
I also checked the connection of the keyboard and the motherboard and it looks ok, unplugged and plugged back - same thing.
Now, I'm not sure if factory reset will help because when I try to type the BIOS password i can't use the keys mentioned above.
And I have the F1 annoying me so mucj because it keeps opening Help pages on and on.
And one more thing, the touchpad works when it wants...
