Need help to find 5.1 output on Windows 7

I have 5.1 multimedia speakers system two speakers and one subwoofer now i can't find the option of 5:1 in my sound setup in
speaker setting show only and option that is stereo.....and realtek HD Audio Manager also show stereo.....I want to add a extra info that is I'm using dell laptop, windows 7 and music system is sony DAV-TZ140.

two problems.

first, your home theater system likely doesnt have 5.1 capable inputs (likely its 2.0 input only). cheap home theater systems are often very limited and only do 5.1 from the included dvd player. some do accept hdmi or optical 5.1 signals but its really a hit or miss thing and only the more expensive ones generally give you that option.

second, via analog output laptops only offer 2.0 output. generally only hdmi and optical (maybe.. as some are 2.0 only) offer 5.1 support on laptops.

third, you say two speakers and a subwoofer.. that is a 2.1 set not 5.1. two speakers will never be anything but stereo.
