How do I hook up my TV to cable, vcr/DVD player to my stereo reciever?

OH DVD/VCR combos are strange in they offer 2 sets of outputs - one that is lower quality with red/white RCA for audio and a single yellow RCA for video. This will allow you to play dvd's AND vhs with the single output. HOWEVER they also offer a higher quality output for the DVD side only which to me is really weird.

Anyway trying different inputs on your TV should show the screen. Which set of outputs are you using on your VHS/DVD combo (dvd/vcr or dvd only?) also which set of inputs are they hooked up to on your TV?
