My computer screen is broken and HP said it will cost as much as I paid for the laptop to replace the screen. Can I hook it up to my tv using HDMI and what functions to press to get the dispaly onto the tv?

Hi,

Actually it won't really cost more than the laptop, it would only range from $60 to $80 if you'll replace it yourself.

Here's a sample of a replacement screen:

But if your planning on just using an external monitor yes you can. Just disconnect the ribbon cable of the built LCD in laptop and the external display would act as it's default screen when you'll be able to go even inside BIOS with it.
