Is there a way to run two Gmail accounts on the same browser? I use Firefox. I guess I could run Firefox and Opera, but it's annoying because I'll have to keep switching between the two.

Google is really getting me down, I just made the mistake of sending an email to someone I know who I don't want to be able to see my YouTube account, but Google automatically links your Gmail to YouTube. Why? Why?! I keep my online persona very much separate from my daily life and I'd like to keep it that way - it's a lot less dangerous.

Damn it, I've had that YouTube account for two years and now I have to delete it and hope that it is wiped before said person gets curious and starts looking me up on YouTube. What have Google got against privacy anyway?

You could use Firefox vice the other browsers mentioned. You could also use one browser with one account and a different browser with a different account to do 2 things at the same time via alternate accounts. Easy.

You should also look at each account's privacy settings to get the most from them (and your concerns). Further, you could use an application like CCleaner to remove errant cookies (from all browsers) after browsing.

Correction. Forget Opera, Opera is a piece of adult word I can't use on TH. There is no bookmarks toolbar and the extension that allows the installation of a bookmarks toolbar can't place the icon on the left side of the screen where it belongs. What a piece of junk. That leaves Chrome (and the less Google I have on my PC the better) or.. Internet Explorer. I hate IE, it's terrible.

When you're not paying for a product, you are the product. You give Google permission to collect information about you in exchange for multiple GB of storage space for free online (Google drive), an Email address (Gmail) and free access to entertainment (YouTube, Google+ etc). Google takes all your information, catalogs them and sell it to advertisers. The more complete the dataset is, the more money Google can potentially make. That's why it's all linked.

It's part of the system, you get what you pay for... There really isn't an opt-out option, you either get all of it or none of it. If you don't like it, get another email/entertainment provider, (Yahoo is doing the same, MSFT is heading down this route... Apple seems very pro-privacy but that's because they already sold you a 1000 dollar laptop/iphone)

P.S. You do know that Google scans and catalogs your Emails right... That info is fed into their advertising services. Since the whole Gmail/YouTube link was a surprise to you, I figured I leave this as a heads up...

It's not the "collecting information" part that bothers me so much, I use a lot of false personal information to help combat that - by now Google should have me listed as a Canadian woman living in Germany. It's the "giving out information" part that is the problem. Anyone I send an email via Gmail to has automatic access to my connected YouTube account, and the only way to turn it off is to delete my YouTube account.

I'm just ranting really. I spent a long time building up my YouTube account. I'm going to give Vivaldi browser a try in a minute.

I've figured it out. I can swap it round: I'll put my existing Gmail account on Vivaldi, and my new Gmail and YouTube account on Firefox. Not a perfect solution, but it's a fix of sorts.

Thankyou Weilin and COLGeek.

Be careful with that, Google can easily tell you're not Canadian or in Germany (IP address tracking). Your search history into google.com will probably give away your interests and they can generally figure out if you're a guy/girl pretty easily...
