Hi combinebasic,
I followed your instructions. Unfortunately this did not fix the issue. Although the PC did reinstall all the USB drivers, my laptop is still unable to detect my mouse.
An error screen appears which states that the USB device "does not work properly and cannot be detected. Try re-connecting the device. If still unsuccessful, consider replacing it."
Ok so we're sure now that in the registry of the drivers is normal, but still we can't because if there are something problem in the parts of windows. Did you try your mouse in the other laptop with the same specs of usb support like 2.0 and 3.0?Are you sure also that the wire signal of the mouse is also good?Because this problem is complicated here we can do, if your sure that your windows is good no corrupted files and viruses, we sure that the problem either the USB port of the LAPTOP or the mouse itself. If not then we go on the format or recover the windows using windows recovery download it in the website of your laptop. Then reinstall the drivers and update it, be sure of the versions. If this will not resolve lets go on in the usb port that you need to dismantle your laptop and check the usb port. But be sure the MOUSE wire signal is good including the connections inside the mouse. Kindly proceed to this instruction so that will know the problem. And inform me after.
Hi combinebasic,
Thank you very much for your efforts.
Throughout the application of your instructions my mouse finally died (i.e. it doesn't even work on any other device anymore). To be honest it is a mystery to me why the mouse kept working for other laptops, but I guess it was time for the mouse to move on after 6 years of loyal service.
Thanks a bunch though for all your help!!
