How many have you left FB to never return? I'd love to, however it's one of my main forms of communication. I'm still searching for a cross-platform to go between PC and Android/iPhone devices that's more revolved around privacy and encryption, no luck so far.

TL;TR:
How did you stop using FB?
What other form of communication did you turn too?

On another note, as I'm sure this has been asked before but I haven't found anything, can FB be permanently deleted? I know you can delete FB pages/groups permanently under the condition of a two week wait period, would love to know, thanks.

Yes you can permanently delete your FB profile after a two week period as well (during which it's inactive but can be reactivated).

Thanks Kagouris, does that also remove any comment you've ever made or does it leave a digital footprint? Anything else you can add would be swell.

Well, my reason Scotty is because it's somewhat of a time waster, alongside that I don't necessarily like having an entire profile of myself online, I somewhat folded since everyone else had one, but I believe (prepare for tin-foil hat theories) that it isn't the greatest idea having a corporation knowing all your traits, beliefs, views, etc etc.
Since in their privacy policies, they can use any information you post (including inbox messages) for whatever they reason they want, or they can sell it to third parties (Hence why it's free). I know most people won't care, but why leave my information there when I don't use their services anymore.

The easiest solution in your case would be to not post all your private information to it. Just use it for comms, no need to put every detail about yourself and your life just to talk to people.

I do not know if it deletes all your stuff as well but I would assume so. Also, even if you delete your account now it's not "deleted". Facebook wouldn't just throw away the data it gets. Everything you've already put on Facebook is in the company's hands for as long as they want. And like SinxarKnights said, you are not forced to give any of your information, so simply do not do so.

Not everyone considered that when they made the account 10 years ago. Also they've escalated in a certain direction since then, if you recall their entire motto was 'ads aren't cool'. We're all aware how their business functions now and what it's grown into. Along with certain leaks that have been made not so long ago.

I did some research Kagpuris, it deletes almost everything except your private inbox messages and certain info you may have input, such as jobs, education, age, etc. All photos and other content is deleted off their servers within a few weeks.

One of the main ones they actually want to keep is inbox messages, So no Sinxar, they care about those the most.

Well you don't have to give your actual information, you can just put different information or just leave it blank.
anywhere you'll go online you'll have ads and most of them will be targeted for you because of google so why does it matter if it happens on facebook too? i don't even look at ads, never clicked on a single one of them.
