i switched my laptop to legacy and now it will not boot how do I reverse the change

Solution
go into your bios & change it to default setting. you might have to correct your time & date but you should now be able to boot.
Laptops are difficult. If you can't even boot to the BIOS, you have an issue.

Option 1. Open it up, and reset the CMOS (remove the watch-type battery) on the motherboard

Option 2. Flash your BIOS which will restore default settings (We'll need to know the full model of your laptop to help you identify the BIOS version and how to flash it though).

Hi

With laptops the situation varies massively about locating cmos button cell
It may be soldered to motherboard , it may need dismantling to get to location
In other cases on some Dells it is hidden in the main battery bay and can be un plugged

I would see how to remove the sata hdd , this is usually much easier
( remove mains power and main battery before removing hdd

Wait until bios times out trying to find hdd
Then try getting into bios, change back to correct setting
was this uefi or legacy
Or sata or ide ata legacy setting?
