I want to use HandBrake to create full sized files, as I can see all the artifacts, etc. with smaller file sized. My problem is that the movies freeze up about a third of the way through when watching from the external connected via usb. Is that a power save problem, a power source problem or a file or drive format issue???? I'd hate to spend all those hours transferring for nothing!!!

You can't have a file over 2 gb in size on a FAT32 partition, so you need to have files smaller than that. It sounds like your TV can't handle network files very well or the files you made are in a format the TV can't play very well. See if there is a firmware upgrade for the TV, or try a network player like a ROKU that can play files off your storage.

Yes they do play ok on the pc. I am using a usb slim type 1tb external drive. I will try formatting a stick usb and see if the problem occurs. I understand that fat32 isn't good for movie files over 2gb. Is that true? Unfortunately my Sony Bravia TV only reads fat32. I also tried using a wired connection from my router to my tv via Ethernet cable and any video I played stuttered and stammered. All I'm looking for is a way to play all my media on my tv without hickups or errors. I want my huge media closet filled with cd's and dvds reduced to small drive that I can just keep in my console under my tv although a media server on a network would be grand, it does seem to work at my house hardwired or wirelessly connected. I didn't realize it would be so difficult. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
