I have a curved monitor, http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/monitors/LS24E510CS/ZA
I am using a HDMI cable for the input but it doesn't play an audio? i have ensured that the volume on the monitor is not muted and the test function on windows playback and the green bars move so i dont see what the issue is. The monitor has audio when I plug in headphones so its not the HDMI cable. It has two speakers built into the monitor according to the website.

agreed junkeymonkey,

that monitor does not have internal speakers. nowhere in the specs or in the manual do i see it note anything about internal speakers

if you read the manual page 59 http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201510/20151014171722621/BN46-00474C-Eng.pdf it seems that the volume up down and mute apply to the headphone jack meant to connect to external speakers.

the op likely did not realize that not all monitors have speakers. internal speakers on monitors are crud anyways so its not a big loss.

right click on the white speaker in the bottom right task bar /play back devices/ playback tab/ then choose one of the digital audio [hdmi] icons displayed and test -- if run through your vid card be sure its audio driver for the card is installed [requires driver support for the vid card use]

also if you get speakers hooked up to the board I think it will cancel out the hdmi for the card as well [???] I cant use the aftermarket speakers with the monitor speakers at the same time it got to be one or the other..

looking at the full specs from the link you gave above all I see is headphone ?? nothing about speakers ??

so maybe all you got ??

then the manual show for how I see it you got to hook aftermarket speakers into the head phone jack to get that ?? [page59]
