Hey Guys,

Having issues with my Alienware M14xR2 laptop.

Specs: Intel(R) i7-3610QM CPU @ 2.30GHz
8GB RAM
GeForce GT 650M
Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB 2.5-Inch SSD.

Ok so the problem is that it just doesn't run how it should. Even with the new SSD it can't run CS:GO on medium at a steady 60fps. I have done all the tedious things like making sure i'm using high performance mode and set applications to the nvidia card in the Nvidia Control Panel. I feel like it's a hard ware issue now. I have heating problems too, laptop goes inferno mode as soon as anything is launched even if its just spotify, word and chrome. Have a cooling tray thing but it's not making a huge difference.

I was thinking maybe repasting the CPU and GPU but it's such a job i would break my laptop 100% and want to have some kind of experienced opinion before paying someone else to do it. Thanks for reading.

As a fellow CS:GO player, your laptop definitely seems capable of running CS:GO. It seems like you have already identified that it is a heating issue and I would have to agree with that. Reapplying thermal paste and also getting out dust in your laptop would most likely help fix the heating issue and should be the solution. There are many guides out there that can help you with dis-assembly but if you aren't confident then get a friend who is or pay someone who can do it for you.

Here's some sites that may help if you decide to do it on your own.
