My internet bill has gone through the roof since I got a smart tv. They tell me it's because of the HD on netflex. Is this true?

Low (0.3 GB per hour)
Medium (SD: 0.7 GB per hour)
High (Best video quality, up to 3 GB per hour for HD and 7 GB per hour for Ultra HD)

if you have capped bandwidth with overage charges and use netflix very frequently, this can add up to quite a large amount of bandwidth per month.

say you watch 4 hours a day on high but not ultrahd.. figure 1gb/hr * 4hr day * 30day month. that is 120gb/mo for a single 1080p stream.
say you watch ultra hd for 4 hours a day? that could be 340gb up to 840gb/mo

we are unlimited data, so are unaffected though some people with capped data should certainly give it thought.

not sure if settings set on pc for netflix will transfer over to your tv or not - you will need...

That depends entirely on your contract and your ISP.

If you have a cap, and you have to pay extra for every Gb downloaded beyond that, it may very well be the case.

I don't have one of these and my internet bill has been completely stable since I got it.
