Dear All

Im having a sound issue with my new TV, before the new tv all my inputs went into the amp and had one HDMI cable coming out to the Tv.

With the new Tv if i do this i loose the ability to use the Tv speakers as i can not have sound out of both?

So i put the inputs in Tv and got an optical out to the amp but with this the surround sound rear speakers are not working as they should (get sound but no movement of sound).

So at the mment i have now put the dvd in the amp again and when we are watching a dvd its fine as we have the sub on and sounds great its just not great without the sub and tv speakers are better.

Any help would be appreciated.

Optical out will not get you surround sound in many instances, it will carry only compressed surround sound, which not all systems can output or read.

Why not use the speakers from the surround sound setup? The TV speakers would be worse quality and would just mess up the audio stage since they are not matched to the reset of the speakers.
